Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. -1 Corinthians 12:12-14
As we move from one year to another I can’t help but remain grateful for the body of Christ that is Buffalo Presbyterian Church and the individual members of it. Looking back not just on the past year, but the past several, it is clear how the contributions of each and every one of you has helped make the mission and ministry of BPC continue. From the Elders and Deacons, to the offering counters, lawn mowers, cleaners, knitters, committee members, choir members, and more, the dedication and talent that you share is a blessing not only to the members and friends of BPC, but the wider community.
Along with deep thankfulness for the ways you give of yourselves for Christ and the church I am grateful for the fellowship that we share at BPC. I regularly see the joy that you all bring to one another in a variety of ways, which in turn brings me joy.
Each of these things; the fellowship, the dedication, the generous spirits, the compassion, and the joy are all gifts from God. These gifts God gives so that we might share them and in this we are using them well. Thanks be to God!
I pray that as we venture into 2023 you will take time to recognize the generosity, faithfulness, and care that exists in our congregation and give thanks for it. May we continue in these gifts we have from God and look for new and continued ways to share them with each other and the broader community. And may we all continue to express the gratitude and joy that we have because of these gifts we share.
May your 2023 be a blessed year and may God call BPC to deeper and renewed mission and ministry in Buffalo and beyond, in the name of Jesus.
